Website Creation
Who knew that Chris Clark could create his own website? Well with a little help from Dr. Dee and some assistance from "The Bee-Man" I was able to make a website talking about both Josh's in out class. Also, I was able to make an animation by using Paint. I enjoyed using TextPad and writing the code for my new websites.
Man You Don't Wanna Mess With
We had a speaker come into class who talked to us about cyber security experts, what cyberspace means to different branches of government, and other various topics such as what the word "attack" truly means. The talk was very informative and the speaker did a good job presenting it. Also it helped his case that he was about 6 1' and 225 pounds and ex-military. He definitely got everyone's attention. I have enjoyed all the guest speakers who have come and talked to us

Reading Response
The internet truly is a crazy thing. I was unaware of all the trouble it could bring.
From the hacking of anonymous to the accessibility of porn, the internet has drifted from how it was born.
People may say that the stock market is great, but for many Americans it only breeds hate
However, Nick told us how the internet produces jobs, which means many people can eat without having to rob
So the internet is not all bad, it just makes it easier for the desired results to be had

What a guy
Well this week we learned a lot about Dr. Wilkes. This teacher has more than what meets the eyes. A guy who walks through a swarm of bees or holds onto the branch the bees are swarming to has some very large cajones. This class has continued to be entertaining and provide new and useful information. Very glad I took Dissecting the Internet instead of Arthurian Legends.

Smart Kids
The guy from Duke who invented Captcha is a beast. He thought of FREE and highly effective ways for people to use entertainment as a source of work for what he was trying to accomplish. He seems like a pretty good guy. I mean i would vote for him for President because at least he can get stuff done. I especially like the way he presented the new way of translating the internet into other languages and how he explained it was more beneficial for poor people who cant afford rosseta stone. And our Freshman Seminar is probably the best out there because of our good teachers who make the subject interesting and how we get to watch video that are entertaining and effectively teach what we are learning and what is going on around us... good times in Hon 1515
Making Money
I must say, I learned a lot about making marketing and the computer industry. From everything that our guest speaker said, it sounds like the business he is in might be THE career path to take. It doesn't seem that companies will ever stop advertising and our speaker's internet advertising seems to be affective and financially appealing.

Book Reports
We were given books to read, make a report on, and give a presentation in class about them. My group got the the book Against the Machine by Lee Siegel. It was a book that did a good job of explaining the good and bad of what the Internet has done to our culture. The presentation before the class went well also and it seemed that we kept most of the students attention during the report we gave on the book. Too bad Dr. Parks had to be running things at an Honors conference and couldn't be with us lowly students
